PERSONAL.
Another old identity of North Otago passed away on Sunday, in the person of Mr John Borton. Mr G. H. Clapham, tailor, a very old resident of Wanganui, dropped dead in the street last night. The Hon. G. Hedstrom, a member of the Fiji Legislature, who lias been on a holiday visit to Sydney, is at present in New Zealand. He is accompanied by Mrs Hedstrom. Mr William Thompson, news editor of the Montreal Star, is visiting Auckland. Mr Thompson left Montreal in November, on a holiday tour ot the world, and has visited England and Australia. Mr F. IX Holdsvvorth, chief postmaster at Auckland, retires from his duties at the end of this month. Mr J C. Williamson relieves Mr Holdsworth until his successor is appoint' ed. Mr Williamson was formerly chief clerk of the Postal Department in Wellington. He has seen nearly 39 years' service, and has been attached to the head, office at least 25 years. /•
