VIGOROUS FIGHTING ON THE GARSO FRONT. THE NEW OFFENSIVE. United Paves Ashooiat.o*. Rome, March 17. A communique says: There was a desperate struggle on the Carsofor possession of positions. We captured the San Martino /one, and on Tuesday night the enemy launched two impetuous attacks. They reached the edge of our new trenches but were vigorously repulsed, leaving the ground covered with dead. Their attacks increased in violence during the night, but we hold our positions. Owing to the Italian offensive, 50,000 Austrians who were about to reinforce the Germans at Verdun, were stopped at Innsbruck.
