Mr Jefferies, the well-known correspondent, writing from Salonika, states that the latest information from Constantinople lessens the probability of an insurrection. Ten thousand Aus-tro-German troops are in the city, and Turkish control lias vanished. The Young Turks suspected the heir-appar-ent and won him over with a large pension.
ROUMANIAN ARMY.
APPOINTMENT OF COMMANDERS - # (Received 8.25 a.m.) Bucharest, March 14. It is officially announced that Generals Averscu, Cotescn, and Presau have been nominated as commanders of three Roumafflan army corps.
THE IMPORTANCE OF VERDUN. EFFECT ON BULGARIA. (Received 9.45 a.m.) Bucharest, March 14. It is reported that M. Radoslavoff, the Premier, declared to a group of deputies, that “the result at \ erdun would show whether God was for or against us.” It is believed that the Bulgarian politicians will not hesitate to desert Germany if the attack fails, of which intention Berlin ( and Vienna are fully aware.
