ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

FOUND DROWNED. Per Press Association. Tima.ru, Marc]) 9. j The body of a man, much decom* posed, was found among the rubble of the north wall of the harbor this afternoon. It wrts fully dressed, excepting fa coat. Tn the pockets were three j pound notes and two watches. There I were no markings on the clothing leaving a direct clue to identity. A ■few weeks ago a man named Houlijhan, of Temuka, left a swag at the j railway station, and has not since callled for it, and from some points about the clothing deceased is supposed to be the owner of the swag. Another suggestion is that it may be the body jof a man who was drowned in the iWaitaki River some weeks ago. DEATH OF TARATA FARMER. The New Plymouth police received word yesterday that -Mr Thomas Cluimney, a well-known fanner of Tarata, was found dead underneath bis motor-car at the corner of the Dudley and Junction Roads early yesterday morning. Mr Chumncy left Ingle wood, where he had been 'attending a sale, at 1 a.m. for Tarata. |As Dr. Whetter was proceeding to Kaimata about 4 o'clock he found •the car overturned at the sharp corner of Dudley and Mountain ! Roads, about half'-a-mile from Jngleiwood. Deceased was under the car 'and his neck was broken. On making examination of the car it was discovered that one of the tyros had burst, and this was presumably the cause of the accident. Deceased was a very old settler of Tarata, and had been a partner in the firm of .Messrs Chumney and Swann. He was about 52 vears of age and was unmarried.
