PARLIAMENT.
AN EARLY SESSION. HOUSE MAY ASSEMBLE ON APRIL 20. It is understood in .well-informed political circles (states 'the" New Zealand Times) that Parliament) will 'be 1 called together about April 20th to settle the question of recruiting, and to deal with other business, possibly including the proposed visit of' two ; Ministers to the Old Country for sin informal Imperial Conference. These are, of course, the Prime Minister (the Right Hon. W. F. Massey) and the Finance Minister'(the Right Hon. Sir J. G. Ward).
The suggestion llas been macle thafc the Hon. J. Allen (Defence Minister) will be. appointed acting-Prime Minister during Mr Massey's absence, but this idea seems to be held in considerable and general disfavour. The Hon. W. M. Hughes, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth, who is at present in England, is reported in a cablegram appealing elsewhere to have stated, when interviewed, that he understood that Mr Masse.v, probably accompanied by Sir Joseph Ward, would be in London in May.
