MOST SUCCESSFUL SHOOT.

) J The Club had a field day yesterday 'on Nelson and Green's property, East Road, when several sweepstakes were got off. Visitors were present from jHawera, Waitara, ldHham, and stir(rounding districts, and competition was keen, though no exceptionally good shooting had to be recorded. The | weather was ideal, and tlie picturesque surroundings of the bush combined to make the shoot enjoyable to all. The Club appears to have blos'somed into new life, and with the enthusiasm now manifest' continuing there is every chance of some big money being arranged in the near future. The President (Mr A. Stewart) was in attendance at the latter end of the day and at the close extended a cordial invitation to the visitors to Ibe present at any of ilhe Club matches during the season. The prominent 'officials for the day were -Mr J. M. 'Shotter, whose services as referee were most valuable, his decisions being imdispu table and recorded with 'precision; Messrs Hamllyn and Shotjter gave every satisfaction as handi!cappers; and Mr A. Nelson proved •that with the trap he was thoroughly at home. The sweeps resulted as follows : . No. 1 (prizes £1 10s, 10s, os), seven birds.—A. Brown (7), G. Harris and E. Kirkwood (6). In the shoot off G. Harris secured second money. Thirteen competed. No. 2 (prizes £6, £2 I.os, £1 10s)., sixteen birds.—M. Fowler, WaitHru (14) J. R. Wheeler, Eltham (11), with five others tieing for third money. It was agreed to take the positions of these shooters in the next sweep to decide, and F. Whittle proved to he the winner. There were twelve competitors. No. 3 (prizes £3 155,, £1 ss, 10s), ten birds.—H. A. Haycock, Hawera, (9) F. Whittle (9), E. Kirkwood (8)Of'the nine other competitors four tied with seven birds. Four "freeze-outs" were held, and provided some excellent sport', the winners being as follows: R. Limmer, Waitara, £l. V™ shooters; R. Marsh, Te Roti 17s 6d. after a close go' with F Whittle; J. R. Wheeler, tf>s; Hugh Campbell, 10s. The first two matches were off 24yds, i and the last two off 32yds.
