IMPORTANCE OF ERZERUM. Tl "KS SHOW ALARM. fUnited Pkess Association.] London, February 24. Despite Enver Pasha’s assurances that Erzerum is an unmiportant town, the general situation is beginning to alarm tiie Turks. Osman Pasha, Abdi Pasha, and Soua! Pasha are heading an extensive Old Turks movement at Constantinople and in the provinces, with headquarters apparently at Smyrna. The serious shortage of provisions is assisting the movement, which threatens a convulsion. The Daily News’ correspondent at \thens state that the General Saff has issued a presumably comforting proclamation, promising to retake Erzerum, and ending, “Be patient, God is with us.” NEARLY A PANIC AT SOFIA. BULGARIANS DEPRESSED. Paris February 24. Correspondents at Sofia state that the fall of Erzerum has made an enormous impression, bordering on panic. Many anticipate the sudden appearance of the Muscovite army, and the Bulgarian army is unmistakably depressed at the idea ol opposing the Russians.
