Twelve eases of infantile paralysis were notified in Auckland to-day istates the Press Association), six in the city and suburbs and six in the country. The total now is ,2115, and of these 133 are from the city and 102 from the country.
A Press Association telegram from Wanganui states that at a' special meeting of the Amalgamated Kailway Society, addressed by the President, the following motion was carried:— “That in the event of the (Government refusing to increase the pay, the Executive Council immediately convene a meeting at Wellington of branch representatives, who will act in accordance with instructions received from their respective branches, such instructions to be given by a special meeting of the various branches.
In the Auckland Supreme Court. Justice Cooper have judgment in an action by John Williams Bines against Edwin Clements, claiming £3OO damages for alleged false representations in the negotiations for purchase by plaintiff of "certain land in the Whangarei district. His Honor held that the statements by defendant were false and fraudulent for the purpose of inducing plaintiff to buy the property, and were the material factor in inducing pwntift to buy. In His Honor’s opinion, £IOO was a fair sum for the damage, and he gave judgment for that amount, with costs on the louei scale. 1 -A,
