NEWTON KING’S REPORT. On Monday, 3,lst January, at my Douglas yards, I had a fine entry for rny annual sheep fair and cattle sale, with a representative attendance of myers from all parts. Bidding right through was brisk, prices for sheep being right in advance of all previous sales as follows: 2 tooth ewes 19s, 2 tooth mixed sheep 22s 2d (good),, 2 moth wethers 19s 10d, 4 tooth ewes 21s Id, 2, 4 and 6 tooth wethers 22s id, 2 tooth to f.f.m. ewes 17s 3d to 225, 4 and 6 tooth and f.f.m. ewes LBs to 21s, small 14s .3d, fat and forward ewes 21s 3d, f.f.m. ewes 18s 7d to 19s 6d, f.m. ewes 12s 8d to 16s, woolly lambs 14s 5d to 14s 9d, good shorn lambs 12s Id, smaller 8s lid to 10s 6d, fat bullocks £l4, 2.)- and 3 year steers £9 18s, 2 year steers £4 to £5, l 8 month heifers (good) £4, 15 month neifers £2 10s to £2 18s 6d, springing heifers £5 17s Gd, bulls £7 2s Gd to £7 17s 6d, small £4 10s to £5, fat and forward cows £7 Is to £9 4s, store cows £5 to £G 15s, small store cows £3 13s 6d. At Stratford on Tuesday, Ist inst., 1 had a fine yarding of both sheep and cattle. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 7th inst. : “Sales closed generally tinner than last cable. Inferior scoured merino, greasy crossbred lambs, five per cent, higher.”
