(Received 12.50 p.m.) Sydney, February 5. The office at the Barrier mine was picketted, and an attempt to prevent communication caused considerable disturbances, several' arrests being made. Senator Pearce announced that the Government had considered the dispute, and in view of the Umpire’s need of metals and munitions, he proposed that the mine work four days a week, not on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays. Otherwise they must' work under the old agreement pending the Court’s discussion. Melbourne, February 5. The Defence Department lias decided that the enlistments will be restricted to men of European origin, and Asiatics though born here will lie barred.
