MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. ' [United Puksb Association. 1 London. January 30. The Treasury declined to accede to the request of the Stock Exchange committee to remove minimum prices for all stocks, but agreed to remove the restriction from colonial Government securities and certain others. The Xeueste Xachrichten says that the Australians are obviously endeavoring to outdo the gentlemen in London in plundering private property. It describes the. barring of German shaieholders as the latest atrocity. The British colonies one day will bitterly repent their present robbery. They have struck the heaviest blow at their future prosperity. The Manchester Guardian says that Xew Zealand’s distinct individuality, which is shown notably in the handling of labor and liquor questions, is making her an example to the world. The result of her National Register, showing the volunteers to number one in seven of the population, illustrates her intense loyalty, but the response ought not to he fully accepted in view of her contribution in food to Britain and the Allies.
Official: MM. Bourgeoise and Thomas, Generals Pell and Jodie, the Chief of Staff, and also a representative of the Foreign Ministry, will visit Italy in the middle of February for consultative purposes.
