NEWTON KING’S REPORT. On Friday, 14th inst., at my Waiwakaiho yards, 1 had a fair yarding of cattle, which sold as follows: Yearling to Is month heifers £2 15s td £2 I,Bs 6d, 18 month steers £4 to £4 Pis 6d, bulls £7 15s to £l4 IDs, fat cows £9 10s to £ll Bs, forward cows £7 7s to £9 17s 6d, store cows £4 8s to £7 2s 6d, springing heifers £4 12s 6d to £7 17s 6d. At Douglas on Monday, 17th inst., 1 had a very heavy yarding, all pens and races being well filled. Buyers were numerous, bidding spirited, a very large scale resulting, prices throughout being well in advance of previous sales. Good 18 month heifers made £4 3s, small yearling to 15 months £1 17s 6d to £3 Is, small 15 month steers £3 11s to £3 16s, 2 to 2| year year steers £6 Is to £6 16s, fat and forward bullocks £l2 7s, i*t-t and forward cows £8 11s to £ll, forward cows £7 to £8 9s, store cows £4 17s to £6 18s, bulls £6 15s to £1,3 2s 6d, 2 tooth wethers 18s 3d to 21s 4d, culls 13s 3d and 14s 6d, 2 tooth ewes 20s Id, 4 tooth ewes aud wethers 22s 2d, 4 tooth forward wethers 23s sd, woolly lambs 12s 4d, shorn lambs 10s ■7d, culls 7s 3d to 9s, 4 and 6 tooth and f.f.m. ewes' 19s, f.f.m. ewes 19s lid f.m. ewes 17s lOd, 14s, Bs.
At Stratford.on Tuesday, 18th inst., there was a good yarding, which met with good ‘competition, the whole of the sheep being chiared at the' hammer, and the majority of the cattle .during the day. Prices obtained were; Fat cows £9--5s to £ll 10s, light fat cows £8 to £9 Is, forward cows £7 2s 6d to £7 19s, store cows £5 8s to £6 17s, light store cows £4 9s to £4 18s 6d, empty 2 year heifers (rough) £4 2s to £4 10s. Choice line of Shorthorn 18 month heifers £5 4s, good 18 month heifers up to £4 4s, others £2 17s 6d to £3 9s. 2 aud 2-J- year steers £7 Is to £7 18s, 18 mouth steers £4 to £4 ss, yearling steers £2 15s to £2 17s, (springing heifers £6 2s 6d, bulls from £6 10s to £ll 2s 6d, wearier heifers 24s 6d, wearier steers 365, woolly lambs 12s 6d, culls Bs, fat ewes 24s 6d, forward ewes 18s 6d, f in. ewes 12s 8d to 14s 7d,
At Stony River on Wednesday, 19th, I luld a good entry, the whole of which was cleared at the following prices:— Choice Jersey 18 mouth heifers £5, good heifers 61 4s, smaller 18 month heifers £2 4s 6d to £3 9s, 18 month steers £3 8s (3d to £4 10s, fat cows £8 I.ls to £lO 12s 6d, forward cows £7 2s to £B, store cows £5 10s to £6 19s, light stores £3 14s to £4 15s, heavy bulls £9’ 2s 6d to £l4, others £6 5s to £8 l()s, springing heifers £5 bs 6d to £6 2s 6d, wearier steers 30s to 37s 6d, mixed weaners 27s 6d, black faced lambs 12s 3d to 15s. shorn lambs 10s to 10s 9d, fat ewes 21s to 22s 3d, f.m. ewes 9s to Pis.
At Kohuratahi on the same day there was not a big yarding, but prices obtained were good, as iollons.—lß mouth heifers £3 10s to £3 1,95, 18 mouth steers £4 Pis, yearling steers £3 to £3 Pis. 2 year steers £5 7s 6d to £5 12s, 2J to 3) year bullocks £9 Pis 6d, store cows £6 17s to £7 10s, 6 tooth and 4 year ewes 18s Id, 4 tooth ewes 21s 3d, 4 tooth wethers 22s 8d to 23s 2d, lambs 10s. Greasv and scoured crossbred are barely represented.
