ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
THREE CHILDREN DROWNED. Peb Prksh Association . Chri'stchurch, January 19. Vera, Olive, and Sam Mumford, aged 10, 7, and 6 years respectively, wer<j drowned in the lake at Riccarton racecourse this afternoon. They were paddling, and slipped over a shelf into about nine feet of water. A SOLDIER'S MISHAP. Ashburton, January 19. i Private J. Goodser, of South Dunedin; fell off the second south-bound 'express this afternoon, and was found lying on the grass at the side of the track, with his head badly cut and several abrasions on his face and hands, but the injuries will not prove 'serious. YOUNC MAN DROWNED. Woodville, January 18. A young man named Harold Wood lost his life in the Manawatu river at Kumeroa this afternoon. He and a younger brother, who were staying with the Jacksons, went in to bathe, and the elder,, brother soon got into difficulties find sank.
