Four hundred soldiers were decorated at to-day's investiture at Buckingham Palace., It was.'the biggest.function ot" its'kind during the present reign, and there were included soldiers from all parts of the Empire. The King, in handing the Distinguished Service Order to Major G. Smith, of New Zealand, showed particular interest in his wounds, and said he hoped he would quickly recover. The Board of Trade's Labor Gazette says that the! growing shortage of male labor can only he met by a much larger influx of women. Food prices this month will be increased 45 per cent, as compared with July, 1914, while the unemployment percentage is .6, the lowest on record. Labor disputes show the lowest number for the past nine years.
