An Austrian ' communique states: The most stubborn battle yet fought on .the Bessarabian Frontier region is in progress at Tororatz, east of Retrancye. The tenacious enemy advanced yesterday in form six and fourteen deep, but were everywhere repulsed and we maintained all the positions. Over one thousand dead Russians were left before one of our brigades, and we captured 150 guns and ten thousand rifles. Cettinge has been occupied. GERMANS PANIC AT CZERNOWITZ. AUSTRIAN ARTILLERY FIRE ON GERMAN FUGITIVES. (Received 12.25 p.iu.i Petrograd, January 1(5. A singular feature of the lighting at Czernowitz' was that the German regiments panicked and begin to run, The Austrian artillery, reversing the process to which the Germans often resorted in the earlier stages of the war, directed their fire on the apikehelmetted fugitives, but the Germans feared the Russians more, and the aitillery failed to stop the rout.
