NEWS OF A MASSACRE. HORRORS PILING UP. United Press Association. Loudon, January 15. Sir John Bryce has received the following message from a friend in Armenia. Writing from Elistan on January 10 he says: Refugees arriving from Mush state that as an outcome of the amnesty 1500 Sassum Armenians, forced by famine and cold, surrendered to the authorities a t the end of November. By order of the Governor of Mush men were massacred, and the women and children were drowned in the Euphrates. The Westminster Gazette points out that the message shows up the destruction of the Armenian peasantry who lied to the mountains. These people lead a peaceful and secluded life in remote valleys. (Mush is a town with a population of 28,000. It is situated in Asiatic Turkey, on the east branch of the Euphrates, 80 miles •south-east of Erzeroum.)
