PERSONAL.
Lieut.-Colonel F. T. Bellringer, of New Plymouth, has received notice to commence his military duties at Trentharn, about January- 10th.
. Mr James McFadden, a returned wounded soldier, has been appointed assistant keeper at the Brothers light in place of Mr Rees, who has enlisted.
The death occurred at Hawera of Mr J. M. McKenzie, who had been for some time a resident of Eltham. Ho had been ill with peritonitis, and a week ago was taken to Hawera Hospital, where he died on Wednesday.
Mr W. G. Wickham, late His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, loft Auckland on Tuesday by the Niagara to take up his new position as commissioner in South Africa. He is proceeding to Capetown, via London, and he will have the opportunity of meeting in Vancouver his successor to the New Zealand commissionership, Mr R, W. Dalton, of the British Board of Trade.
