CORRESPONDENCE.
NOT HEROES. IXU 188 iUll'iUK ai’UATFOBD Po«T.] Sir, —I hope you will spare me the necessary space to contradict some statements appearing in your last night’s paper re the capsizing of the boat in the Ngaere Gardens. It is stated, that tiie so-called “heroes,” left the boat, which was not cut in two, and made for land, leaving the ( girls to get ashore the best way they could. Jvow Sir I wish to contradict this, as I was one of the occupants of the boat and waited till I. saw the 'girls (knowing they could sivimy strike out for themselves. The other statement is that the “heroes” would soop be made men of in Trentham. It was no hero who made this remark, as the three boys in the hoax are well under age. On future occasions, it would be better for the one who inserted these'statemenis, to learn the facts of the case, before rushing things into print. Another thing, there were no , “heroes” on the names of the lake, as they all stood looking at us instead of offering a helping hand. 1 am, etc. j, G. BURGESS. Stratford, December 28, 1915.
