Mr J. E. Shewrv, the champion Taranaki axeman, has enlisted for service at the front, Mrs B. 31. Aldwell. wife of the Commander of the Hospital Ship Marama, is on a visit to Stratford, and is stopping with her aunt, Mrs A. I). Blick. it is probable that the consecration of Mon signor Brodie as Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch will take place towards the! end of next month, when Monsignor Ceretti, apostolic delegate to Australasia, is expected to be in Christchurch.
