ATTACKS REPULSED. United Press Association. London, December 13. General Townsend reports that the enemy bombarded his position on December 8 and 9, making desultory attacks from all sides on the 9th. The enemy on the 10th heavily bombarded Kut and developed an attack on our northern front, which, however, was not pressed. The bombardment was renewed on the 11th, and two attacks were repulsed with heavy enemy loss. Since then there has lieen less activity. The attitude of th e Arabs .is reported as satisfactory and British reinforcements are pushing ahead. Teheran, December 13.
The Russian occupation of Sultan*‘balk Pass caused a panic at Ramadan. The Turco-German consuls fled, and the inhabitants rushed into the telegraph office and cancelled the signatures to a telegram calling on the Government to declare war against Russia. , A Swedish gendarmerie officer named Dmar collected the money confiscated from the Bank of Persia and freed a tribe, who surrounded the house of a German agitator named Pujen at Ispahan, and demanded treasure. Pujen failed to secure the gendarmerie and fled to a mosque.

*■ A BRUSH WITH ARABS. Cairo, December 13. Official: A reconnoitring force from Matruh encountered three hundred hostile Arabs and drove them westward, killing 35. The British casualties were 16 men killed, and 3 officers, and 15 men wounded.
