The nominations for the Stratford Racing Club's meeting to be held on .January Ist and 3rd, 1916, closed last night. They are very pleasing, and number 287, as against 246 last year, an increase of 41. Taking the races iti order the Tariki Welter shows an increase in nominations of nine, the number this year being twenty-eight. The Midhirst Hack of six furlongs has always been a favorite everft, as the entries of 22 for last year and 28 lor. this year show. The Stratford Cup has attracted nineteen horses, live more than last year. The Ohura Hurdles has been, favored by fifteen owners, an increase of one. The Douglas Handicap, (last year's Flying) has nineteen entries,, six in excess of last year's. The Toko Welter has''decreased from.2s to >22;i The Strathmore Hack shows an increase of two, while the, Ngaere Handicap has junipedjtrqm fifteen-to twenty-five. The" Makuri Hurdle Handicap has gained' .an increase from 13 to 17. The 1 ,\lal6ne Memorial, which has replaced the, Dominion Handicap, has been increased 50sovs. in value, for which stake 26 horses have been nominated, as against the 22 of last year.
