The death occurred oh Thursday at Scatoun, Wellington, of Mr Adam Win. Burnes, who was at one time a prominent athlete, |in Wellington, being a prominent" Sculler, yachtsman, and representative footballer.

Among those who enlisted at Wellington on Thursday was Mr E. S. Douglas, professional for the Miramar Gold Club. He goes into camp with the infantry on December 14. When the committee of the club were informed that Mr Douglas had enlisted, they decided to hold the position until his return, and in the meantime to appoint temporarily someone not eligible for military service.

Lieutenant C. Gray, in charge of No. 30 Area, 1 Defence Department, has received orders to proceed to Palmerston North to report to headquarters on Monthly. Under present instructions.
