MANAWATU GORGE MYSTERY. Per Press Association. Palmerston North, November 27. Yesterday afternoon a married man named John Soane, employed on a farm on the hank of the river in the iMamnvatn. Gorge, left on horseback to fetch the cows from an island at ‘the continence of"the rivers. An hour later the riderless horse returned. A search was resultless, hut the man’s I hat was found next morning. It is 1 feared the horse .stumbled in crossing the river, and that the rider was drowned.
