Lieutenant-Colonel Rhodes repoits ill a letter to Mr .Massey, dated October 23 that he had visited the various hospitals about Cairo and had not heard any complaint. He pays a tribute to the work of the officers at the records and post offices and the base depot, also to Captain Green, of the Salvation Army, who has won allround admiration and respect for his work in visiting and attending to the wants of the sick and wounded. , Colonel Rhodes also visited the hospital ship Meheno, which all agreed was the best in the Mediterranean. The New Zealand Government has received from the South African Goi - eminent an inquiry lor fifty tons or cheese. It is probable that the quantity will he supplied from the 1150,000 tmis that have been arranged for by tlie Now Zealand Government for the Imperial authorities. MORE NURSES TO BE ENROLLED. .Per Press Association. Wellington, Novehjper, 23. Tho Minister for' Public Health, who has charge of the nursing .service, has approved ol the enrolment of 125 additional nurses for the New Zealand'Army Nursing Corps. The total mynhor enrolled will then he 344. This number will include the draft for the New Zealand hospital at Walton-on-Thames, where only fully qualified nurses will he taken in. In a report to the Minister, Miss H. Mac Lean, officer-in-charge of the nurses ,states that there are enough nurses now on the list to replace the ten nurses who were lost with the transport Marquette. There are now 219 nurses enrolled, including the nine who were reported missing after the sinking of the Marquette. Four are in Samoa. 153 in Egypt. 12 with the Australian forces iu Egypt, 14 on the Maheno, 20 on transport duty, 8 at Trentham camp, 2 at Wellington hospital, 2 at Creview a, and 3 at Tauherihikau, while one nurse is at Clifton Terrace hospital.
