The refusal of an Italian shopkeeper: at Manly to allow a soldier to leave a bottle* of beer on the premises led to a quarrel, wherein the Italian in self-defence knocked down the soldier with a bottle. The tumour spreau that the soldier was dead, and next day a strong body of soldiers visited Manly, and completely wrecked *lhe -shop. Twenty-four soldiers were remanded on a charge of rioting, being allowed bail of £2OO each. CORPORAL JOHN WREN. (Received 8.30'a.m.) ■ t Melbourne, November 24.
