HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. “A FIGURE IN BLACK.” . A powerfully enacted Kalem drama, entitled “The Figure in Black,” is included in to-night’s new programme. Everybody loves a mystery, and here is a good mystery, around which there is a pretty love story. A film of outstanding merit is entitled “With Fatty and Mabel at the Panama Exposition” ; the picture shows many of the sights and wonders of the Exposition now in full swing at San Francisco. “The Heart of Flame,” depicts a young violinist in his efforts to become a genius. Other films include th e “War Gazette,” “The Cause of it All,” and Noodles Return” a (rich Sterling comedy). “MOTHER GOOSE" PANTOMIME. In the “Mother Goose” Pantomime, to bo staged at the Town Hall, Stratford, on Tuesday next, one of the priu-. cipal performers is Mr Will Rayner, the fortunate possessor of a wonderful tenor voice. The following criticism of this artist appeared in a leading Perth paper during the company’s recent season there: —“Will Rayner’s singing of ‘The Veteran’s Song’ in ‘Mother Goose’ will be long remembered as one of the most forceful pieces of vocalism ever heard in Perth. Mr Rayner astounds his audience by appearing for half-an-hour in the guise of a bald headed comedian, and at the end of that time delivers Stephen Adams’ stirring song in a truly masterly manner. During the rendition he occasionally reaches top b, a tenor note possible only to such singers as Mr Peter Roxby, hut few others. With it all, Mr Rayner has a tremendous balance surprising in a pantomime artist,” Mr Rayner is only one of tho many fine artists to he seen in “Mother Goose,” the box plan for which is now open at Grubb’s.
