The -Press Buikhiu states that the officer commanding in the Meditemtiv* ! ean cabled that the 52nd Division carried out a successful attack on N’o-, vember Id, for which careful prepay-0 ations had been in progress for a| considerable time. i Three mines were exploded iitj the' enemy's trenches at Krithia Nullah 'at 3 o’clock in the afternoon, and the infantry pushed on immediately. They captured 160 yards of trenches east of the nullah and 120 yards on the west. The captured trenches were immediately consolidated. Bombing parties pushed up to the communication trenches and erected barricades, the battleships assisting in the bombardment. The position was consolidated at 6 o’clock in the evening. The enemy’s batteries were very erratic, and the Turkish infantry suffered considerably from machine-gun and rifle fire. A counter-attack on the night of the 16th was easily repulsed. The British losses totalled fifty killed and wounded. There were, seventy Turkish bodies in the captured positions and thirty others were killed by the explosion of the mines.
