• V.C.’S AFTER LOOS* [United Press Association.) London, November 19. Eighteen Victoria Crosses have been awarded in connection with the battle of Loos, of which six are posthumous. ANGLO-FRENCH WAR COUNCIL. Paris, November 19. The Anglo-French War Council had a lengthy sitting, and conferred with General Jotfre and all the French Ministers. The activity of the conference made an excellent impression. Le Temps compliments the conference on their rapidity in tackling problems, the foremost of which was Italy’s co-operation in the Balkans. I The Ministers returned to London to-night. IN THE YPRES DISTRICT. Loudon, November 19. Sir John French reports Hostile artillery is active east and noilth-east of Ypres, A small party of our troops carried out a successful enterprise on the night of November 16-17, just north of the river Houve, southeast of Messines. They forced an entrance to the enemy’s front trench and bayonetted thirty occupants, returning with the loss of one killed and on,e wounded, and bringing in twelve prisoners. ENEMY BATTERIES SILENCED Paris, November 19. A communique states: Wo wrecked a Gei;man post, and entirely silenced the enemy batteries in the Audechy-Echelle-St. Aurin-Ducessier sector.
