SURVIVAL OF THE FIT.

MEDICAL MEN’S RESPONSIBILITY U«iT»p Fbkss Association. (Received 11.30 a.in.) New York, November IS. A question that is exciting more interest in the Tinted States than the war has arisen over the action of Dr. Hairy Haiselilen, who. finding a defective abnormal child born of a Chicago woman decided to allow it to die rather than perform an operation which, it was certain, would save its life, but would never make it normal or unparalysed. The mother approved of the decision of the medical profession and agreed that the only possible course was lol- * lowed. The Coroner justified Dr. Haiselden on the ground-that it was impossible the child would ever become normal. The opinions of the churches are divided on the subject.
