THE LATE COLONEL MALONE.
L'l'o Tms Emxou SruAX-toim Post.J Sir, —Through the columns of your valuable paper 1 wish to appeal to the women of Stratford to mark their appreciation of the late Colonel Malone's services to the Empire and their deep and sincere sympathy with Mrs Ma lone in her bereavement by presenting her with a suitable address and a memorial badge. It is hardly necessary to repeat here the care and solicitude the Colonel had for his men. These facts are borne out by the men themselves, who have repeatedly expressed their love for and devotion to their late chief. For the above purpose I would be glad to receive subscriptions from those who would care to join in the proposal. The address would be in book form and contain the signatures of all the subscribers, and the badge would consist of a gold bar with pendant attached, the bar to bear the following inscription: "To Mrs Malone from the women of Stratford. A memento of her husband's heroic sacrifice in our nation's cause." Subscriptions and signatures of subscribers may also he left with Mr Skoglund at the Borough Council office. 1 feel sure there will be a ready response to my appeal. —I am, etc., EDITH SKOGLUND.
