RAILWAYMAN’S DEATH. Per Press Association. Wellington, November 8. Ernest Clay, the railway porter who was knocked down at the Petone station oir Friday morning and had an army amputated and received other injuries, has succumbed. DROWNED IN THE HOKIANCA ■ RIVER. Auckland, November 8. George Pitcaithly Bruce Stewart, 67 years of age, a carpenter, was drowned at Kolm Kohu in the Hokianga river, on Saturday night. A young man, William Brennan, was killed while employed on the wharf at Te Arolia on Thursday. A Native hoy, Ponga Tapithi, was accidentally shot while rahbitting at Waimelia on Tuesday. The evidence showed that his companion’s gun accidentally went off, the charge entering Pongaks shoulder. Death was instantaneous. A fatal accident occurred on the Omata Hill at New Plymouth on Saturday. Mr 0. Million,'of Opuuake, was proceeding in a motor lorry with his son Cyril to Opuuake. The lorry stopped on the hill and Mr Million and lii s son alighted. When the lorry was re-started, it ran hack and ran over the boy’s arm and legs. The. injured boy was convoyed by the lorry to New Plymouth Hospital, where he died on Sunday morning. —Bm»o« ——•1
