LOCAL AND GENERAL.
The Patriotic Market held in the C.B.A. on Saturday by Mesdames .Tniacke, Glasgow, and E. C. Robinson was a great success, £">(! lis being derived from good.s sold. The Market was held in conjunction with the street collection in aid of the Red Cross Fund for New Zealand Soldiers and Sailors, included' in the amount was to donated by Mrs T. H. Pehn. A sheep and a calf sold by .auction at Newton King's yards .realised £ls and 9s respectively. The weightguessing competition for a ham resulted in favour of Mr A." Rawles and Miss Stott (equal), and Mr W. Bowler was successful in guessing the age of the doll. The raffles for the side of bacon and sack of flour were won by Mr Wade. County Stables, and Mi's J. McDonald respectively.
