TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALES. NEWTON KING’S .REPORT. On Tuesday, October 19th, at my four-weekly sales, I offered a catalogue comprising 17 bales and 61 sacks wool, 2170'sheepskins, 13 casks and 29 tins tallow, 770 hides, 3752 calfskins, and the usual sundries. There was the usual attendance of buyers, and competition wa s keen. I offered a few bales of this season’s fleece, which sold from Hid to Hijd per lb., lougstained and inferior at 10’d. Sheepskins were eagerly sought after, and advanced |d to lid per lb.Butcher and good farmers’ skins realised from lOd to 10|d per lb. Tallow maintained late rates. Hides were easier by id to id per lb. Calfskins firm at late rates. I quote: — Wool—Crossbred Hid to H;Jd, stained 10id, in sacks H;]d, crutchings 7id to Bijd, in sacks 7Ad to 9d, inferior Id to 7id, dead 93d to 10i, locks and pieces 4id to od. Owing to the Wellington Woof Sale being held on my usual day, my next Sale will be postponed a week, and will be held on Tuesday, the 23rd November.
