The milk cheques for the Lowgarth factory last mouth amounted to £16’26, and in the ease of the Cardiff .Factory, £1346.

The services of Messrs Samuel jdedgeman, Stratford, and Donald McCrae, Christchurch, have been accepted for the infantry section of lieinforcements.

A large cheese cbring room is under construction at the Lowgarth factory hy Mr Fwink Amoore. The hnilding is being constructed of reinforced concrete, and when completed, will lie one of the host in New Zealand.

The Patriotic Market this week will he under the management of Mesdames Glasgow, Uniacke. and E. C. Robinson, who will he pleased to receive donations of produce, poultry, bread, cakes, cream, etc. The shop will he open on Friday afternoon to receive the goods.

Building operation, s are proceeding apace in Broadway north, Mr McAllister has a large two-storied studio under construction, and Mr T. I. I.' l mason, is having extensive alterations made to his . storeroom, the hnilding lately occupied hy Messrs W and Iv. Brocklehank. r

The Patriotic Market held in the C M.A. Buildings on Saturday by Mesdames McQuay and Sairgster was a great success, and the Ladies Patriotic Committee’s Fund will benefit considerably, by the day’s business. The day’s profits, will not he . made known until all accounts have been paid.

•Mr .1, 'l’. M. Hornsby, member Tot Wairarapa. will arrive’ nv Scratforu to-night, and proceed to-morrow to Whangamomona, where he will deliver a recruiting speech. On Wednesday morning .Mr Hornsby will speak at Kolmratahi and The Tunnel, and retucn to town in tin* afternoon. Capt. McMillan, of the Stratford Home Defence Corps, will accompany the -speaker on his recruiting visit.

When the Ladies Patriotic Committees’ rooms in .({roadway South were visited this morning it gave one the impression that a working hee was in progress. The members of the committee were hard at work finishing and marking the goods which are being made for the new Hospital Ship and the six beds which have been promised will be ready to be despatched in a few days’ time. When the work is completed the beds will be on exhibition in a Broadway shop window.

Twenty-three men will leave Stratford for the Trentham Camp by the special troop train to-night. The men will assemble at the school gymnasium at S o’clock, and then proceed to the Post Office, on the steps of which the. Mayor, Mr .1, W. Boon, will deliver a short farewell speech. After Mr Boon |,a s concluded bis speech the men will be allowed a quarter of an boor in which to say good-bye to their, friends. The general public will be admitted to the station platform to-night, arrangements having been made In keep the gates open.
