PERSONAL.
At the Stratford School this afternoon Mr H. J. Thompson, who is leaving to join l the I\einforcenients,was the recipient ' of two razors, a sleeping bag, and a set of military hair brushes. Mr Tyrer, who made the presentation, apologised for the absence ol Mr P. Skoglund, chairman of the Stratford School Committee. Mr Tyrer, in speaking of Mr Thompson's many good qualities, said he was not a member of the school's teaching staff for long, but it was long enough to find out that he was au all-round good sort. He was willing to do his work and had done that work.—(Cheers). Mr Thompson had cut his wisdom teeth and was past boyhood. He was a man of years and a man of learning. Mr Tyrer wished the recipient good Hick and? God speed on behalf of the pupils. Mr Thompson suitably responded. -Mr Thompson Was also presented "ith a .bogus electric torch which, said Mr Tyrer. was very handy to a man who did not smoke. After Mr Thompson had concluded his speech the pupils joined in three hearty cheers.
