THE EMPIRE’S CALL. STRATFORD’S QUOTA FOR THE NINTH. On the 11th hist, a large batch of i neu will leave Stratford for Trentliani. Tbe troop train will leave at 5.40 o’clock in the evening. The Defence Department’s instructions are ! that all public ceremony must be over at least live minutes before the arrival of the train > so that no unnecessary delay will he caused. The only articles the soldier will take into crimp are shaving, cleaning and toilet, gear, change on underclothing, socks and overcoat. The last three articles are necessary in case of wet weather and circumstances aifising, in camp which may temporarily delay,; the issue of the Government kit. Those articles will be returneid by the Camp authorities to each soldier’s home as soon as he receives his kit in camp. MORE MEN URGENTLY WANTED The Defence Department : M siviixious that every facility for enlistment shall be made and lias requested Mr W. P. Kirkwood, Chairman of the Stratford Patriotic Committee Executive, as well at Lieutenant Gray, to enrol recruits in the Stratford district. Tlie men now being enrolled —and four, thousand are urgently wanted to register before October Kith—wilj go, into camp early in November and will leave New Zealand with the 10th N.Z. Reinfonements. Mr Kirkwood will be glad to receive a visit from any one who realises his duty in this matter. Out of twentyfive going into Camp on 11th October, twelve have enlisted from Stratford, the balance’ being from the Stratford District.
