This afternoon, in the House of Representatives, Hon. Jas. Allen referred 'to defence matters. He said that 6000 reinforcements were available for October, and after that 4000 men were wanted everv two months. It was a large order, and it might be found necessary to stimulate interest in recruiting. He read a statement which had been issued to employers, asking for their co-operation.
