Dunedin, September 14. .., Robert Sproull Menzies:, who had charge of the insurance (department, of Neill and-Co., Ltd.-,'was before the Court this morning, charged that,.on July oth he committed, theft, received £236 12s 10d from Neill and Co. on terms requiring him to pay the same to the Royal Insurance Co.} and did fraudulently convert the same to his own use. Sub-Inspector Broberg said the accused had been for many years in charge of Neill and Go's, insurance department. There were a number of other informations against him. Hail Avas refused after the Magistrate had perused a letter which accused had written to Mr Widowson, S.M., remarking that in accused's own interests and for his own sake, bail should not be. allowed.
