Mr H. Williams is the. suc'c&sftjt applicant for the position or manager of the New Plymouth .Mountain House, ami will shortly be in residence there. Mr Williams states thai circumstances over which he has had no control, necessitated the withdrawal of his application for enrolment on active service. The death is recorded by the Wangahui Herald of .Mrs Maysmor. who passed away on Friday at. her sister's .Mrs Win. lirewer's) residence, Waihau. Waverley. after a brief illness. The deceased lady was the widow of the late Mr-John Maysmor, of Wellington, and the eldest daughter of the late Major Durie. of Wanganui, and was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends both up and down. the coast. Lieutenant 'Urquhart, of the Tarahaki Company, Wellington Infantry Battalion, writes as follows from "Anzac." Gallipoli !'• ninsula, under dare 17th July to Mr M. Foley. Stratford, as follows: '•Regarding the. much regretted death of your son. Private Terence Foley. He was shot through rhe head while on "observing duty" in our trenches at? 10 p.m. on Friday.' 18th July, and died about three hours later. He was, ! in my platoon, and although, unfortunately, he was not with us for long, he proved himself a thoroughly good soldier, and we all mourn his loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences."
