At a special meeting of the Stratford Borough Council held last night, Cr Mills was appointed delegate to the Stratford Patriotic Committee.

Trooper Eric'' *Catchpole, who was killed I 'in action''at' the Dardanelles. was a son of Mr and Mrs A. : B. Cfitchpole, of Mokoia. He was formerly in Toko and Strathmore, where he was at school. He was in the- '- l fighting from May Bth with two brothers James and Alfred, who are still mtfrurt.
A very pretty wedding was solemi -liised at the Catholic Church .this morning, when Miss Mary Ann Power, ' second daughter of Mr Michael Power, J.P., of Broadway North, was united •in the holy bonds of matrimony to Mr E. A. Hnne, of Liverpool, England. 'The bride, who wore a very charming dress of white satin with an over tunic of real lace, was given away by her 'father. Miss Mary Keooel! pinksatin dress) acted as bridesmaid. Tim flower girls were, Mis s Mary Coley white satin frock, relieved with pink'), and Miss Helga Walker \white satin relieved with yellow), of Wellington. Mrs Power, mother of the bride (black satin), and .Mis Walshc, sister of the bride (white crepe do chine), were also present. Mr P. L. O'Rielly officiated as best man. Alter the ceremony, Niiptual Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father Maples. The • Mass was sung by the choir, and Mrs JC. Massey rendered an Ave Maria I very sweetly. As the happy pair left i the church, the wedding march was played by Miss Winnie Fitzgerald. The wedding breakfast was laid at the Foresters' Hall under the supervision of Mis Brooking, when about two hundred guests wove present. Mr and Mrs Hupe left by the 3 p.m. train for Wellington, via Wanganui.
