The Au'gstiufg, completed in 1911, was a' protected cruiser of 4,280 tons, turbine driven, with a trial speed of nearly 27 knots. She was armed with twelve 4.1-in quick-firing guns and two torpedo, tubes. Her radius ,of action with, bjiukers full was nearly 6000 knots. The crew numbered 379.

(The German protected cruiser Thetis, referred to in to-day's cables as sunk at Riga, was completed in 1903. She;jwas a protected cruiser of 2020 tons, with a speed of about 21 \ knots.
