WANCANUI-ECMONT HUNT CLUB

(Notes by Cicero)

The Wanganui-Egmont Hunt Club’s ’fixture takes place on the Waverley racecourse to-morrow. Despite the fact that no convenient train arrangements are available for Taranaki sportsmen, quite a large number intend making the journey. Sik horses only have paid up for the Paten] Steeplechase. If Cornelian has improved in his jumping (which was very noon then the event is as good as over. Nita is a very clever jumper, and is sure to .put up a good fight. O! the nine engaged in the Hunters’ Hurdles Aha stands right out, but unfortunately bleeds from the nose: in lact one takes on a risk in hacking Cameron’s gelding. Royal Loop has a lair amount of pace, and may run well. Nine maidens accepted for the Monmhaki Hack. Dnraiie. who has run some failraces, and Vladian, who is reported as being very well, should divide favoritism. Despite the steadier ol 1d.7. it will be difficult to defeat Expedition, though Consul may possibly account for the rest of the field. The good crowd of eleven remain in the Kakaramea Mack. Flying Camp looks a better horse than he did at New Plymouth, and with Welcome Nugget may provide a good race. The old-time heavy calibre back, Soultiform, will make his reappearance in this event, and is being supported from certain quarters. Thirteen accepted for the Ladies’ Bracelet Steeple, but Captain Dick may be an absentee. Consul (.12,71 will possibly start lavorite. I’he largest field of the* day should line up for the Hunters’ Flat, and Warea, Royal Loop, and Aha will come in lor most support.
