The conversazione in aid of the Wounded Soldiers’ to-morrow night in the Parish Hall is hound to be a success. Arrangements have all been completed, and patrons can reply on a good evening’s entertainment. At last night’s nieetmg of the Stratford Volunteer Fire Brigade, the vesting of the Brigade’s property in a Fire Board was considered. The benefits the ratepayers and the townspeople generally would /derive from the Board were pointed out, and it was decided to invite Superintendent Bellringer, of the New Plymouth Fire Brigade to visit Stratford and address a public meeting,’ explaining the work, ing of a Fire Board. For the football match at New Plymouth to-morrow, arrangements have been made with the Railway Department for excursion fares, and the train from New Plymouth has beep delayed till 5.32 ppn. - The train to New Plymouth will leave Stratford at the usual time, and the match will start at 3.10 p.fu;, fo (enable visitors to , New Plymouth ’to see the whplq game, (liven fine weather, a fast.and interesting game should result, and patrons ofour national winter pastime should not miss to-morrow’s opportunity.
lAt the meeting of the committee which has the arrangements for the holding of the Fire Brigade’s “Jiardnp’’ social and torch-light, procession in hand, hold hist night, nt was decided that, no dancer without a mask lie allowed on the floor‘before 12 p.m.’ A trophy' for the J best “hard-up” lady’s dress has been donated by Mr Alt’ Moon, and bile for the best lady’s fancy dress by Mr J. Rowe. A special orchestra has been engaged to play the dance music in the evening, and a very enjoyable time is predicted.
