In the Assembly, Mr Hall introduced a Bill amending the Wheat Acquisition Act, and extending the period of operation for' a further three months, as the holders of last year’s crop were releasing the supplies which the Covernment wished to acquire. Mr Halt said that though the Act had not worked out just as he wanted, the (iovernment had saved a penny a loaf for many months. They had no intention to touch the new harvest. Tiie Bill was read a firs^time. N.S.W. INCOME TAX BILL. (Received 9,55 a.m.) , Sydney, August 19. In the House, Mr Hughes, in moving the second reading of the Income Tax Bill, said the Bill called upon those who can afford it to pay. He failed to see how else the' money could he raised. The tax was equitable, and as far as the data available showed it was economically sound. The lack of information regarding the wealth «( the Commonwealth was lamentable. The, debate was adjourned.
