OUR MEAT EXPORT.
IMPERIAL SUPPLY SCHEME. Per Press Associat .on. Wellington, August 12. Already this month five big steamers have been despatched with full cargoes of meat, purchased under the Imperial Government meat supply scheme. These are the Indrapura, La Blanca, Delphic. Athenic. and Corinthic, and five others (the Rnahine, Somerset, Opawa. Tainni, and Makarini) are timed to leave by the 29th inst. Since the inauguration of the scheme thirty steamers have been despatched, carrying 159,1:10 quarters of beef, 1,116,115 carcases of .mutton, and 1,707,873 carcases of lamb, purchased on behalf of the Imperial Government, and 13,751 quarters of beef, 92,Q5S carcases of mutton, and 124,177 carcafses of lamb have been loaded into the five vessels at present on the loading berth in the Dominion. The meat in store, awaiting shipment, on 31st. was equal to 1,865.283 601 b carcases, and the total payments up to, and including, the 10th inst., amounted to £3,375,755 19s sd.
