EGMONT BOX COMPANY.

ANNUAL REPORT. The ninth annual report of the Kgmont Box Company, Ltd., to be presented to shareholders at the meeting to l>e held at Eltham on August 10. states that, owing to the war. there had beeu a reduced turnover of 2$ iper cent, in place of a hitherto normal increase of from 10 to 12J per cent, previously. After writing off £IOO for had debts, £4OO for exhausted bush, and £4554 13s Gel for depreciation, the surplus was £3070. A dividend of 6 per cent, on paid-up capital is recommended, leaving £967 to lie dealt with. It was further recommended to add £6O to the premium* re-? serve account, and £SOO to the reserve account, making a total reserve ol £0560, and leaving a'balance of £lO7. The policy adopted as to the Taurewa bush area had beeu to push tho work on. Upwards of £21.000 had. up to .June 30 last, been expended on the work, and a further £15.000 would ho required to complete steam tramways and other work in hand, giving z complete through road to the Main Trunk line. It was hoped to have the work completed and giving appreciable returns during 191.7. As further capital was required. the shareholders were asked to alter the basis of. allotment from three £1 shares for each ton of butter or each two tons of cheese to four £1 shares and two £1 for each ton of butter and cheese respectively, giving a further £14,000, the wills being spread over two years.

Tlio balance-sheet shows that boxes and cases produced £41,013. the wages paid amounting to £16,3*53, salaries £1283. The assets are set down at £101.1276, the paid-up capital being £30,371, the Taurewa property £'2l,103, and bank overdraft £27,011. The retiring directors, Messrs , J. Marx, A. -Morton and J. B. Murdoch; oiler themselves lor re-election.
