THE SINKINC OF THE IBERIAN. United Press Association, London, August (i. The Westminster Gazette notes the silence of the American press over the sinking of the Iberian, and says that Germany's answer to the American N'ote has been most direct, having taken the practical form of killing, 'without warning, an American teaman. Apparently, if the American press has its way, no notice will be taken of this impression of real feeling, but this matter will no more be lost upon Germany than upon this country.

There won' 1453 departures and arrivals <liiring the week. Six British merchantmen were submarined, of a tonnage if 15,837, and also nine fishing smacks.
