FRUIT GROWERS' CONFERENCE.
THE QUESTION OF TRADING. Pjek .Press association*. Wellington, August 5. The Kruit-growers' Conference today discussed the advisability or otherwise of the federation carrying on business as a trading concern. Mr Hudson, M. P., strongly opposed the idea, giving his experience from previous connection with an association, which has expended £30,000 in booming its particular industry, without entering into trade of any kind. There was ;i great deal of that kind of work required on the part of fruit-growers in establishing markets, and in displays at exhibitions. Finally, it was resolved that the conference affirms the principle of trading by the federation, and that the federation should register under one of the unclassified Acts lor twelve months, to enable the Government tax of Is per acre to be collected and the different associations formed.
