THE VIOLET DANDIES

At the Town Hall on Monday next an entirely new English costume com-! edy company,.- called The \ iolets, will make its first appearance under the direction of Edward Branscombe Pty., Ltd. 'lbis company consists ol four Indies and six gentlemen, dressed in the /dainty French Pierrot costume. The style of entertainment is somewhat akin to that presented by the popular. Dandies, but there is a subtle difference noticeable which has infold much favour and which in consequence the in-.uiagem.cnt deem it wise to preserve. The voices of the Violets have created the most favorable comments, for though the work of the company is mainly humorous,. the vocal standard has been carefully kept on a very high level. So that in the humorous concerted work it is not only the lighter vein which is touched but the musical taste is appealed to as well. Then again, dancing scenes are an important factor in this company, notably the “Champagne Scene.” Pierrot and Pierrette,” “Old things are host.” and “The Rendezous.” The Violets will he found the most popular coterie ttpvt Mr Branscomhe has yet introduced. The box plan is at Grubb’s. ■
