AMUSEMENTS.
HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Tlie seventh series of the Adventures of Kathlyn, Selig's sensational animal melodrama, was screened for the second time last night, together with ii big- list of first-rate pictures. \V;ir specials are always keenly looked forward to, and this change is found to l>e particularly interesting, specially an extra item, "Joffre Nibbling at 'Km." Other pictures screened include a thrilling drama in two parts by the famous Thanhauser Company, entitled "Barrier of Flames." In this picture, the principal part is taken by a dog, in which it saves its playmate (.a little girl) from a burning building. "Fisherman Kate" is a rich comedy by the Vitagraph Company, and is very amusing. "Fatty's Magijc Pants" (Keystone) is as usual, a screamer. This programme will be screened for the last time to-night. To-morrow evening the usual change takes place. THE VIOLET DANDIES. The .entertainment to bo presented by Mi" Edward Hrnnscombe's "Violets" Company at the Town HaJI on Monday next is said to lie as fragrant as the cliice flower, whic lithe immortal Shakespeare referred to in "A, .Winter's Tale" as being "sweeter than the lids of June's eyes or Cytherea's breath." In the Violet Company's production there is said to be not the faintest suggestion of the sordid side of theatricaldom, no meretricious glare or glitter, no taint of the questionable or debased. There is, it is claimed, instead the vivid human interest of high-class vaudeville with the evidence of good breeding and fastidious taste. Mr IJranscombe states the Violets are not sent out to reform or "improve" the people, and no suchpreposterous claim is made for them. They merely provide hearty amusement that leaves no unpleasant after favour, laughter with no lurking sting, wit and humor that can be enjoyed without reserve by decent and cultivated people. The Violets stand as the link between the brightest sort of what has become known as concert party entertainment and the highest typo of refined vaudeville. The ladies! and gentlemen of the Violets, of whom there are four of the former and six of the latter, are said to be pastmasters in the arts of society entertainment. The box plan is at Cirubb's.
